Time slot booking required
All visitors, including those entitled to free admission, must book a time slot. Buy your ticket online on www.ticketlouvre.fr.
During off-peak times, there may also be a limited number of time slots for same-day visits available for booking at the museum. However, if you wish to guarantee your entry to the museum, we strongly advise booking your time slot in advance online.
Due to current circumstances, only card payments will be accepted.
Opening hours and access
The museum is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day except Tuesdays.
Two entrances to the museum will be open: the Pyramid entrance, where there will be specific lines for each time slot, and the Richelieu entrance, for visitors with member cards (Amis du Louvre, Louvre Pro, ICOM, Ministère de la Culture, Patrons Circle, etc.) and groups. The Carrousel and Porte des Lions entrances will be open as of October 1, 2020.
New itineraries
Signs have been placed around the museum to guide visitors and avoid overcrowding. The Salle des États (where the Mona Lisa is displayed) will be entered and exited through separate doors.
Open: Historical palace rooms; Near Eastern, Greek, and Roman antiquities; Egyptian antiquities (ancient Egyptian civilization); Islamic art; European decorative arts; Crown Jewels; Napoleon III Apartments; European and French sculpture from the Middle Ages to the 19th century; French paintings (some rooms remain closed); Italian, Spanish, British, and Northern European paintings; and the arts of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.
Closed: Egyptian antiquities (chronological display); decorative arts of the 19th century; Greek terracotta, bronze, and ceramic works; part of the French painting collection.
Safety measures and advice
Both staff members and visitors over the age of 11 will be required to wear a mask in the museum. Visitors must bring their own masks. Hydroalcoholic gel will be provided at both entrances to disinfect hands and must be used before entering the building.

Social distancing rules and preventive measures must be respected in the museum.
Independent tour guides are allowed to bring groups of up to 25 people. However, in order to respect social distancing measures, they will be required to use headsets and a microphone.
Audio guides, wheelchairs, and pushchairs supplied by the Louvre are disinfected after each use.

Do You Need A Time Slot For The Louvre Museum

I'm hoping to visit the Louvre on a Monday in early March. The plan was to buy a museum pass on Sunday when we arrive in Paris. But will that be soon enough to book an online time for the Louvre the next day?
It appears reserving the Louvre slot requires providing the Paris museum pass document number.
Is buying it one day before going to work or ought I buy it online ? Is there a mobile version or do I really have to travel to the Paris Tourist office on Sunday to pick it up? (I imagine that office may be closed on a Sunday)
